What do you think about an all dessert bridal shower?

Question by Lucians Mommy: What do you think about an all dessert bridal shower?
Hi,
Another bridesmaid and I are hosting the bridal shower for our friend. We were throwing around ideas for the shower in Septmeber.
The shower will be at 2:00 in someone's home with about 40 people. We are thinking of an all dessert shower also serving coffee...tea...punch...soda etc...since it will be after lunch and before dinner. And frankly who doesn't LOVE dessert. LOL
Both of us recently had babies (in April) so we are needing to keep on a tighter budget. We thought this would be a fun and less expensive.
The other option would be to do a "potluck" shower where the guests bring something...but I do not feel comfortable doing that. Although if we did that I might ask each person to include the recipe card for their dish...so they can be given to the bride.
Let me know your thoughts mainly on the all dessert idea. I also would like some creative input on a name that we can give it, so that our guests know what to expect...."Cake and cookie shower".
Thanks
Thanks for all the great thoughts. We will be doing fruit in some form (maybe a chocolate fountain where you would not have to dip it in chocolate) ...but I like the idea of some salty items.

there's nothing wrong with that. make sure to include some fat free, sugar free options. You can use sugar free pudding, fat free whipped cream, nuts, and some fruit to make individual parfaits for one idea. Oh, and chocolate martinis and irish coffee lol.

Alot of ladies go on diets before the big day so just have some options for them.

What is the Red Hat Society all about?

Question by Suz E. Home BAKER: What is the Red Hat Society all about?
This afternoon seemed like a normal afternoon at the restaurant where I wait tables- UNTIL the hostess informed me that I was going to serve a banquet for 15-20 ladies.
" Is this a baby shower/ bridal shower?"
"No."
" Are they celebrating a b-day?"
" Ah-ah. They're from the Red Hat Society."
" The who?!"
" I don't know. That's all I was told by the manager."

In coming walking in a group of mature women all wearing red hats and purple outfits. A couple of ladies wore pink hats and lighter purple outfits. They ate and ordered cocktails. They were a rowdy and boisterous bunch of ladies. I think they were playing a game (Bunko? sp?) and handing out prizes. Then they seemed to be discussing books and poetry. Does anyone know about this? They were having so much fun, I didn't want to interrupt and ask them.

I am a member of the Red Hat Society. We meet for fun, fellowship and friendship. We sometimes wear purple shirts or outfits for those over 50 and lavender for those under 50, we wear pink or red hats. My group meets once a month for breakfast at a local restaurant. We play games, talk about literature and the arts, go to movies, parties and teas. Our aim is basically social and lots of fun. We are divided into chapters according to location or where we live.

Question about bridal shower favors?

Question by Mama to 2006 & 2008: Question about bridal shower favors?
I'm hosting a bridal shower at a tea shop for my sister. For favors, I found adorable heart shaped tea infusers. I want to tie them with a little ribbon and attach a label. I think it would be cute to say "A Tea-rific Couple" but then should I write the name of the bride and groom and their wedding date or just "Laurie's Bridal Shower" and the date of the shower? If it's just supposed to be the bride's name, should I skip the "terrific couple" part? Any advice?
Here's the favor... I was just looking for wording for the back of the tag http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=16305014

What a cute idea! There are no rules to things like this. Do what you like! The fact that you are even having favors is really lovely!

I would probably say something like this:

Jack and Jill - a tea-riffic couple

Good luck! Go with your gut and what your sister would like.

Know More about the Best Wedding Speeches Order

Deciding upon the best wedding speeches order can often turn out to be a very distressing task for the bride as well as the groom. Thus, it is best to just follow the conventional order of covering the various aspects in the wedding reception speeches. It is often found to be very tedious for the various guests to decide upon the order of the wedding speeches amongst themselves. Thus, it is always a better idea for all the speakers to confer with the bride or groom rather than being unsure of who they are supposed to follow or who comes after them during the time of wedding speeches.

It is usually traditional for the father of the bride to firstly give his wedding reception speech. This is because the father of the bride is the one who pays for the whole wedding and is thus considered its host. In order to maintain the flow of the speeches, it is recommended to allow the father of the groom to give his speech after the father of the bride. The wedding speeches order should further continue with the father of the groom introducing as well as acknowledging his son or the groom to be for the subsequent speech. It is typical of the groom to poke fun at his best man towards the end of his own speech. Thus, logically the best man should deliver his speech following the groom.

The best man should be instructed to hand over the microphone to the maid of honor after closing his speech in order to maintain the proper wedding speeches order. After the maid of honor delivers her speech, she should be intimated about the other guests at the wedding who would like to give their own speech about the couple and their wedding. Once all the wedding speeches wrap up, it is ceremonial for the guests to proceed to the cutting of the wedding cake by the couple-to-be.

Though the wedding speeches order might looks simple at the face value, it is not the case. Firstly, it is necessary to ensure that all of the speakers should be well informed of their ordering in terms of the speech timings, Moreover, it should be cross checked that they have their speeches in place and are aware of hat they have to say. It can also prove to be a good idea to let all the speakers know ho they will be following as well as who would be following them in theĀ  order of wedding speech in so as to avoid any possible last minute chaos. It can also prove beneficial to check out the speeches of all the speakers in order to ensure that their wedding speeches do not offend anyone in any possible manner.

This is pivotal as the wedding consists of the family and friends of the bride as well as the groom, and any unsavory jokes or anecdotes could upset them and spoil the mood at the wedding. Combining all of the above instructions can and rigidly following them can only help in attaining the perfect wedding speeches order!
