Question by vmbbfreak06: My sis & her fiance have both been married b4 & need help for planning a bridal shower appropriate for this.?
Since they've both been married before I'm not wanting to call it a shower (showering them with gifts isn't necessary). I do however, want to have my sister something. Maybe a gathering just like a "shower" but would be minus the gifts. I just need to know what to call it and exactly what I request the people to do? Do I specify this is not a "gift giving" ordeal? Thanks!
If all you are going to say is who cares, why answer at all.. stupid.

They have been together a while, are recently engaged, and the wedding is in October. A BBQ does sound like a good idea...

I love that... your presence is gift enough!
They each have children from a previous marriage and if it was something for "both" there 4 lovely children would probably be a must. They are a HUGE part of their lives.

Can you help me with Bridal Shower Ideas?

Question by mathwhiz454: Can you help me with Bridal Shower Ideas?
I'm my best friend's maid of honor, and I wanted to just get ideas from you girls about the Bridal Shower.

I don't know if it should be a surprise, I don't know if she should help me plan, or if the groom should be invited ("Jack and Jill shower").

I've actually never been to a bridal shower so I'm lost!

She's 24, and will still be when they marry. The groom is as well. There are 6 other bridesmaids...they both travel a lot, into all types of the arts, the bride's an actress, the groom's a business man and video editor on the side...

So any ideas? Just need a jumping off point!

Question by vmbbfreak06: Sister and fiance both married before. Still having her a bridal "something" not shower... need help!?
They have both been previously married and combined they have 4 children. They have the basic necessities: pots, pans, cups, iron, silverware... all the things you typically give. But, they do however, need monetary gifts.

So, I have two problems or dilemmas...

One, what do I call it? Its just gonna be a day for the girls still.. like a shower. Food, time of fun, friends, and family... but, "shower" isn't really appropriate. So, what should it be called? A bridal celebration? I don't know!

Second dilemma, how do I request monetary gifts only?
Umm. They are just getting married. Very few couples don't need money. Glad you are one of those. You must receive all the help DHS offers... icon smile Sister and fiance both married before. Still having her a bridal something not shower... need help!?

If you put a basket out or something, they may have already purchased a gift.
Those themes sound really cool. I like "stock the cellar!"

You could do a themed shower instead. A lot of brides that are getting re-married are doing it that way. It is more fun and its different.
As far as monetary gifts go...that is more something you want to spread "word of mouth" than put in an invitation.
