I recently attended a wedding of a close friend. There were no words to describe the wedding and everything that followed. The gown of my friend was fabulous. The garden where the vows of love were held was breath taking. Everything and everyone looked exceptionally great from start to finish. After the wedding, I was invited to stay for a while. It was then that I realized that something is wrong.
The gifts were opened one by one. I was taking pictures as the each gift was unwrapped. The couple got more than 6 pillows, more than 5 sets of table wares, and 2 stoves amongst other wedding gifts. It made me wonder what could be the best wedding gift when I get married someday.
It is very important that the wedding gifts will be useful to the couple who is still on the process of building a new life together. Being practical is really what I meant.
First in the list would be money. Giving money as a gift might not appear creative but it surely is the most practical thing to give. Most newly weds are still young and are saving for something like a house, vehicle, appliances, or for paying back amounts owed for their wedding itself. Giving money will make the couple buy the specific thing that they wanted. It’s never rude to give money as gift but if you want it to be a bit creative, you can put the check in a beautiful picture frame with your best wishes with it.
Honeymoon is what every newly wed is anticipating after the wedding. You can take this as an opportunity to give an unforgettable gift. You need to give your gift early while planning for the honeymoon place is still in progress. As early as this, you can inform the planner that your gift will be to shoulder the amount of the hotel accommodation. You can also make the couple’s honeymoon more memorable by giving gift certificates or tickets to nearby establishments and resorts located near the honeymoon place. This will make their honeymoon extra sweet.
If you want to be more creative, you can give a more personalized gift to the bride and groom. While it’s easy to buy blankets as gift, it would make it more special to put a personal touch on it. You can have a simple embroidered design on the blanket that you will give. To show support and encouragement to the couple that their marriage would last, give them gifts that would stand the test of time like wine or scotch along with a tag in each bottle greeting them “Happy 10th Anniversary” or “Please open on 2025!”
These kinds of gifts will surely be highly appreciated by the couple. While gifts are important, its always your presence in the wedding that really counts.
